Big Dawg Productions is a non-profit theater company that performs captivating shows in downtown Wilmington. Big Dawg Productions is committed to producing entertaining, thought-provoking, and socially responsible theater, with an emphasis on education and the promotion of the performing arts. For the first 12 years, they performed in rented spaces such as Thalian Hall's Studio Theater, but in 2008 Big Dawg Productions decided they needed their own home. After several months of renovating the former Friendly's Department Store located at 613 Castle Street, Big Dawg Productions opened in July of 2009 and they have reveled in their new space ever since.

Big Dawg Productions is looking forward to a bright future. They welcomed new Artistic Director, Steve Vernon, who brings with him over 20 years of experience in the Wilmington theatre community. He has directed over 50 productions, acted in over 60 and produced or co-produced over 60. Big Dawg Productions is not your typical community theater company and Steve Vernon is exploring new ways to help them reach their amazing goals. Their mission goes beyond a commitment to providing leading-edge and critically acclaimed live theater. They also believe in education and outreach to ensure that live theater is successfully woven into the very fabric of society. In addition to a season full of incredible plays, Steve Vernon hopes Big Dawg will offer programs and opportunities for families and individuals in the area to realize their own artistic pursuits.

After a month full of sell-out performances of Dixie Swim Club, Big Dawg Productions is getting ready for the rest of the 2012 season. They plan to host and present unique plays that will entertain the Wilmington community and visitors from out of town.
